De Chen is Professor of Chemical Engineering (Catalysis) at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim since 2001 (associate professor 1998-2001). He received his Master degree in chemical reaction engineering at the East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, China, in 1988, and got his Ph. D in catalysis at NTNU in December 1998. During 1989-1994 he headed the group of petrochemical technology at the Shanghai Institute of Petrochemical Technology, SINOPEC, China. His main research interests are natural gas conversion including hydrogen production with CO_2 capture, coke formation and deactivation of heterogeneous catalysts, microkinetic modeling of surface reactions, application of oscillating microbalance (TEOM) in study of adsorption/diffusion and reactions including coke formation and deactivation. Production and applications of carbon nanofibres/nanotubes (CNF/CNT) have also recently become one of his main research activities, including controlled synthesis of CNFs with well defined structures, applications as catalysts, catalyst supports, hydrogen storage, and electrode materials. He has published more than 100 papers in international journals. |
